Pro Tools is still the standard in commercial vocal rooms, where studio time is billed by the hour. Cutting even ten minutes of “where are we again?” from every song is real money. LyricsRunnerVST scrolls the lyric sheet in sync with the Pro Tools timeline so the take keeps moving.

Install it in Pro Tools

Plugin folder: Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 — macOS: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 (use a VST3-to-AAX wrapper host, or run LyricsRunnerVST alongside Pro Tools in a VST3 host)

  1. 1Install LyricsRunnerVST to the system VST3 folder.
  2. 2If your rig uses a VST3 wrapper (e.g. Blue Cat PatchWork or DDMF Metaplugin), rescan inside that wrapper.
  3. 3Insert the wrapper on a track and load LyricsRunnerVST inside it.
  4. 4Alternatively run it in a lightweight VST3 host synced to Pro Tools.

  • Pro Tools hosts AAX natively; LyricsRunnerVST is VST3, so a wrapper or a companion host is the usual route.
  • Because it never touches audio, running it in a companion host is fully acceptable in professional rooms.

Step 1

Insert on the vocal or a utility track

Many engineers keep it on a dedicated “Prompter” track so the vocal chain stays untouched and recallable.

Paste the lyrics before the singer arrives

Prep during setup: paste the sheet, set the start marker, choose a large high-contrast font.

Step 3

Talkback less, record more

The singer reads the next line instead of asking. That is where the 10–15 minutes per song comes from.

Step 4

Send the window to the live room

Undock and place the window on the display facing the booth.
