Scrolling lyrics insideAbleton Live

Ableton Live is a writing and performance tool as much as a recording one, which means lyrics change constantly. LyricsRunnerVST keeps the current version of the lyric on screen and scrolling with the Live transport — in Arrangement or Session view.

Install it in Ableton Live

Plugin folder: Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 — macOS: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3

  1. 1Install LyricsRunnerVST.
  2. 2In Live, open Preferences → Plug-Ins and make sure “Use VST3 Plug-In System Folders” is On.
  3. 3Click Rescan (hold Alt/Option and click for a full rescan).
  4. 4LyricsRunnerVST now appears in the Plug-Ins browser.

Good to know

  • Works with Ableton Live 10, 11 and 12 (Intro, Standard and Suite).
  • Plugin state is saved inside the Live Set.
  • Useful for live sets too: keep lyrics on a laptop or tablet screen while you perform.
Works on a second monitor, a TV or a tablet used as a display.

The Ableton Live vocal-recording workflow

Step 1

Drop it on the vocal track

Drag LyricsRunnerVST from the Plug-Ins browser onto the audio track you record vocals on. It is audio-transparent, so it never affects the signal.

Step 2

Paste and align

Paste the lyrics and set the start point where the first sung word begins in the Arrangement.

Step 3

Use it while looping

Live's loop bracket is the fastest way to punch a line repeatedly. LyricsRunnerVST jumps with the loop, so the singer always sees the right line instead of the wrong verse.

Step 4

Second screen for the vocalist

Detach the plugin window and place it on a second display or a screen in the recording space.

Ableton Live FAQ

Does it work in Ableton Live Intro?

Yes. Any Live edition that hosts VST3 plugins can load LyricsRunnerVST.

Live doesn't show the plugin — what now?

Open Preferences → Plug-Ins, enable VST3 system folders, then hold Alt/Option and click Rescan.

Do the lyrics follow Live's loop?

Yes — the display tracks the transport position, so looping a line keeps the correct lyric on screen.
