Scrolling lyrics insideCubase

Cubase is built around fast vocal comping — lanes, punch-in and cycle recording. The one thing it has never had is a readable, self-scrolling lyric sheet for the singer. LyricsRunnerVST adds exactly that: a VST3 window that scrolls your lyrics in perfect sync with the Cubase transport.

Install it in Cubase

Plugin folder: Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 — macOS: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3

  1. 1Install LyricsRunnerVST and quit Cubase completely.
  2. 2Reopen Cubase and go to Studio → VST Plug-in Manager.
  3. 3Click the refresh (circular arrow) icon to rescan the VST3 folder.
  4. 4Confirm LyricsRunnerVST appears in the VST3 list with no blocklist warning.

Good to know

  • Works in Cubase Pro, Artist and Elements 11, 12, 13 and 14.
  • Settings, lyrics and window size are saved inside the Cubase project — no external files to manage.
  • Cubase's own Lyrics track is for score notation; LyricsRunnerVST is for the person actually singing.
Works on a second monitor, a TV or a tablet used as a display.

The Cubase vocal-recording workflow

Step 1

Insert it on the vocal track

Add LyricsRunnerVST as an insert on the vocal channel, or on any track if you prefer to keep the vocal chain clean. It passes audio through untouched, so insert position never colours the sound.

Step 2

Paste the lyrics

Paste the full lyric sheet into the plugin window. Blank lines become section breaks, so verses and choruses stay visually separated while scrolling.

Step 3

Set the song start

Drag the Cubase playhead to the first sung word and set the start marker. From then on the scroll speed follows the project timeline, including tempo changes.

Step 4

Send it to the live room

Undock the plugin window and drag it to a second monitor or a TV facing the booth. Cubase keeps the window position in the project file, so the next session opens exactly the same.

Cubase FAQ

Does LyricsRunnerVST work in Cubase Elements?

Yes. Any Cubase version with VST3 insert support (Elements, Artist or Pro, 11 and newer) loads LyricsRunnerVST.

Why doesn't Cubase see the plugin after installing?

Cubase only scans VST3 folders at launch. Quit Cubase, reopen it, then hit refresh in Studio → VST Plug-in Manager.

Can the lyrics window sit on a second screen in Cubase?

Yes — undock the plugin window and move it to any connected display. Cubase remembers the position with the project.
